“Active Learners Active Citizens” asserts that online digital environments, such as educational platforms, writers’ official websites, YouTube channels as well as social networking sites can potentially provide a highly creative and political public space that can serve not only as a means of communication between creators and recipients/writers and readers but also as a vehicle for addressing social concerns while also appealing to civic imagination.

Active Learners Active Citizens” actually tries to reaffirm that digital cultural texts can provide new avenues for active engagement in social matters and designates Greek Educational Institutions as cultural “superhighways” that can assist towards educating and sensitizing young learners against social inequalities.

Active Learners Active Citizens” has been designed to respond to the need for further investigations of contemporary forms of cultural participation.

The project activities prioritize the development of learners’

  • social responsibility
  • decision-making skills
  • ability to set common goals, and
  • collective performance

Only when trained from an early age will learners become socially engaged and acquire those skills that will pave the path towards holistic educational practices.
