Οn Friday 10/2/2023 the Lab of Foreign Language Teaching, School of English, organized a workshop on “Corpus Linguistic Applications”. It was our pleasure and  honour to have Dr Costas Gabrielatos  as a guest speaker of the workshop.

Dr Gabrielatos made two presentations: In the first one he presented his latest research on “The discourse presentation of autism in the UK press: A case of critical corpus lexicography”; his second presentation focused on the use of Word Sketches in discourse-oriented corpus studies.

Each presenter of the workshop (Dr Chasioti, Dr Dalpanagioti, Dr Karasimos, Dr Papaioannou, and Dr Zapounidis) touched upon a different application of corpora and provided attendees with original and inspiring ideas and materials.

You can find the presentations in pdf format in the workshop’s web page.

Twenty-one MA, PhD and post-doc students attended the workshop and contributed  in their own way to the success of the event.

We would like to thank Tasos Paschalis for his help and support during the organization of the workshop and the School of English for financing the event.
