The Laboratory of Narrative Research (LNR) is a teaching and research unit that is part of the School of English at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It has been designed to bring together scholars and researchers from across the humanities, the social sciences and other scientific fields who have a special interest in the workings and the politics of narrative production.

How do we write narratives that dramatize our personal experience in ways others will understand? How do we weave in historical and theoretical information about gender that will deepen our experience? This workshop will provide narrative techniques for conveying one’s personal experience of negotiating their gender identity and expression. Students will practice incorporating historical, scientific, and theoretical ideas about gender into their personal narratives.

Bio
Joanna Eleftheriou is the author of the essay collection This Way Back. She has also published essays, poems, and translations in journals that include Arts & Letters, The Common, and Bellingham Review. She is Assistant Professor of English at Christopher Newport University and Greek language teacher at the Writing Workshops in Greece.
