The Multimodal Research and Reading Group

The Multimodal Research and Reading Group

The Multimodal Research and Reading Group focuses on the examination of multimodal narrative techniques. Its members are Ph.D. candidates and holders from School of English (AUTh) with an interest in multimodality, digital and transmedia storytelling, and digital literary and visual production. Τhey are participating in the symposium with their own hybrid role-playing game.

Under Siege 2: The Resistance

Under Siege 2: The Resistance is a hybrid role-playing game which brings together elements of code-based interactive narratives and physical adventure games through the use of digital and material resources. Players participating in the game are asked to work collaboratively in teams so as to solve a series of puzzles and riddles.  The game blurs the boundaries between physical and virtual space, since gameplay takes place both in the physical space of the Aristotle University and in the digital space of the computer and the mobile phone.  The game is conceptualized, constructed and coordinated by the Multimodal Research and Reading Group of School of English (AUTh).
