Welcome Mini Concert

In Absentia

A theatrical play written for the 46th International Byron Conference and filmed at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Here are some of the places we would have liked to take you to, should the conference take place in Thessaloniki. This is a small sample of our original plan. The material chosen is meant to offer a realistic perspective and transfer you mentally to the actual place where the conference would have been organised. Enjoy!

Thessaloniki

The Galerian Complex: A Visual Tour (A virtual tour of the Roman Palace of Galerius in Thessaloniki in late Antiquity)

Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki – a contemporary selective tour of the city (The soundtrack of the video is what you would probably hear in a Greek taverna)

Aigai

Royal Necropolis and Palace of Aigai in Vergina

Ioannina

(there would have been a two-day trip to this city as part of an attempt to retrace Lord Byron’s itinerary in Greece)

And here are a few more places that would be worth visiting in Greece …
