The Laboratory of Narrative Research (LNR) is a teaching and research unit that is part of the School of English at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It has been designed to bring together scholars and researchers from across the humanities, the social sciences and other scientific fields who have a special interest in the workings and the politics of narrative production.

Narratives of Myth and Reality
To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821, the Laboratory of Narrative Research of the School of English of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is organizing a two-day symposium titled The Greek War of Independence and the United States: Narratives of Myth and Reality.
The symposium seeks to explore the global significance of the Greek war of independence through its powerful impact upon the American society and culture. The ideological ties binding the Greek and the American Revolutions will be examined from the perspectives of history, politics and diplomacy, social resonance and cultural production.
The symposium’s dual focus will
- provide insights into the Greek national identity-formation process, and
- show the American response to the central Greek revolutionary events through the writings and actions of American politicians and citizens who supported the Greek struggle for freedom.
